What needs to be done for Ron Paul or an independent to win the Presidency in 2012?

What needs to be done for Ron Paul or an self-determining to win the Presidency in 2012?

The question

Is it time now more than ever for our country to have a president who is not a member of one of the two parties? In 2008, everyone despised the republicans, they stood no chance no matter who was running. Obama was the savior and was being compared to JFK, he was being called the best president ever before he won.

No as we embark on 2012 it seems as if the same frustrations are being taken out on Obama and democrats. Are we Americans really so stupid that we forget things so soon? I am not stating support for republicans or democrats either way but what makes anyone who now says Obama stands no chance to win reckon that Romney or Perry will be any better than Obama, or Bush?

So I question, is it time we get together and vote in an self-determining candidate or perhaps give a guy like Ron Paul a chance? There are no jobs, the morale is extremely low, everyday goods are expensive, and the future of our work force (recent college graduates) are drowning in debt from student loans….what do we have to lose?

Best answers:

The people need to be less stupid
Another fire in the Reichstag.
ron paul would need an economic policy not made in 1780
The reason Ron Paul doesnt have a chance is that most people do not agree with him on some key issues. If it were not for those things then he would be a shoe in i reckon.

Will the birth of a child lower my EFC on FAFSA /how long is an in-school deferment allowed on student loans?

The question

I am 23, self-determining, single, and currently pregnant, I am due Jan. 2011. For the 2011-2012 school year when I file my FASFA, how will a dependent affect my EFC? will it be low to the point I may be eligible to receive free money for college?

For the last 3 yrs. have been denied financial aid (besides loans) such as the Pell Grant and I only make $ 23,000/yr. I currently have a student loan (in which I have a in-school deferment for)For the last year I have been paying for ALL of my education. Tuition and books. OUT OF THE POCKET. I only have a 29 credits left in order to complete my A.S. It just seems impossible to care for a child and pay for college out of pocket.

**The father will be supporting me with expense to care for the child**

23K a year (even with one dependent) isn’t really considered poor. You haven’t hit the jackpot here.. sorry. But honestly, the only way to know for sure if you qualify for anything besides loans is to apply.

You need to be worried about the schools SAP rules… if you have been attending college for THREE YEARS and you still have 29 hours to go, you are going to max out your financial aid eligibility before you even get a chance to use it!!!! (the school will cut you off after 90 hours).

And yes, if you aren’t supporting your child more than 50% then you can’t place her/him on your fafsa attention to be included in your household size.

You may qualify for some need-based aid… but you will not qualify for the maximum if you make $ 23,000 again this year. The federal poverty level for 2 is $ 14,570/year… you’re pretty far above that level. Have you been attending school part-time or full-time. If you’ve been attending full-time and still have 29 credits left… you’re probably close to losing financial aid (including loans) as you can only use financial aid for 150% of the required credits for your degree… so if your AS requires 60 credits, financial aid will only cover 90 credits. If you’ve only been attending part-time, you should be fine; but, at part-time you should have already earned an AS (it’s only an 18-month to 24-month degree).

Have you been dating the father for a long time prior to the pregnancy? I’m only asking because some fathers do walk away from the responsibilities and you do not want to then be without his financial support (not saying he will… I don’t know the situation – but it does happen a lot). You can defer your student loans as long as you are a part-time student. If you’ll be taking off the winter/spring semester due to your child’s birth, your loans will go into their grace period (if you haven’t already used it). You will only get one grace period in a lifetime (just some excellent info to have if you didn’t already know this. Make sure that you’ll be able to afford repaying your student loans (not sure what you’ve taken out so far) as AS degrees typically don’t earn you much more than a high school diploma does (found this out after I earned my AS degree – now set to graduate with my BS in December and have a job promotion lined up). Excellent luck to you and congratulations on the new baby.

At what age can a student file for student loans and be self-determining of the parents income? And, what other conditions do they have, like how long do they have to be out of the parents home and living on their own to file independently?

Ron Paul has some excellent thoughts on fiscal policies and economics, but he is completely ignorant when it comes to defending our country and appreciative the threats we are faced with in this world. For that reason, Ron Paul cannot and should not be taken seriously.
