Which is a good bank for me to open an account?

Which is a excellent bank for me to open an account?

The question

I just turned 45 last month and believe it or not I never, ever opened a bank account primarily
because of stupidity and my laziness as a youth plus I owe a lot of money too many entities like
ancient student loans and ancient hospital bills. Please spare me the “oh you should’ve known better,
are irresponsible and should be ashamed of yourself” because I’m hearing that from my family
constantly and I’m taking steps to make return to these entities but I don’t exactly know how.
Let’s just say that if I new 20+ years ago what I know now I would’ve had at least half of a
million in the bank, a really excellent job with benefits, a perfect credit score, the best credit cards
and a groundbreaking new 2012 Chevy Camaro parked outside. In other words a perfect life. My situation is
so dier that I was forced to go in with my elderly parents for without them I would’ve been in
a homeless shelter or worse in the streets or in prison. Let’s just say that it was a combination
of running with the incorrect crowd, substance and alcohol abuse and making many, terrible choices like
getting married and yes I am now divorced. The only solution I see is to work two jobs like I did
in the past when I was happily married but I don’t have a car like I used to. Can I open a bank
account, get a bank credit card and rent a car so that I can achieve this goal? Please no negative
responses as I’m desperate. I have a 16 year ancient son who needs me now and I can’t help him like he
deserves to be helped and no I don’t live with him anymore like I used to. All I want is to pay
the tens of thousands that I owe through some payment plot so that I can appease the creditors.
Can I do this without them garnishing my bank account and my pay checks? I have it all figured
out with the jobs but they are very far from where I live and public transportation isn’t going
to cut it because I’ve tried and failed especially with two jobs. I already applied for a seasonal
job with UPS and with a rental car I can work at a warehouse that pays $ 14.00 p/h. Please don’t tell me that I can’t do this because I also need to help my family. Which banks do you reckon will accept me? Thanks in advance.

I would start by whatever bank has a lot of ATMs in your area – for me that’s Chase. That way you will reduce the odds that in the future you will need to pay fees when you have to get to your money. Also, I believe that Chase will waive most of it’s low balance type fees if you set up direct deposit with your employer. As for wage garnishments, all banks must abide by the same laws, so that should not really be a deciding factor when choosing a bank. I don’t know why you would need a bank credit card – that’s not a excellent way to pay for a car payment anyway and probably a debit card will serve you just as well. You’ll just have to be fastidious about recording your buys and balancing your checkbook so you never get overdrawn, because that is expensive no matter where you bank.
I will spare you any negative comments because I see you are in a desperate situation. And since I can’t really see how this job is going to work for you even if you’re hired, since you have no transportation, can’t get a credit card due to your terrible credit, and therefore can’t rent a car, I guess there isn’t much that I can say that would give you encouragement at this point.

What I would do is look at a bankruptcy. It would not forgive the student loans, but it would get rid of everything else. Then you could get a job near your parents where you could walk or bike to work possibly. Only you know if that is possible or not. And a bankruptcy costs around $ 2,000 to $ 3,000 to file a simple case as yours appears to be. But that would get rid of the most debt the quickest and that’s what I’d look to do first. Your credit is shot anyhow, and you’re young enough to recover from a bankruptcy.

I wish you luck. There are many people unemployed and worried for their future right now. Times are not simple, and it’s not only you going through this.

Sounds like a real loser to me.
have you questioned and been turned down?
you don’t need credit to get a bank account, just money to make a deposit and ID to prove who you are.

if you are talking about getting a credit card, that’s a whole other tale

like 99.9% of people on here you don’t say where you are from so I can’t tell you about banks in your area.

My life is falling apart?

The question

I am a 19 year ancient believer and follower of Jesus Christ, freshman in college, I thought my life was going to be secure and steadfast 4 months ago when I had a job and about to start college. In July I lost my job after buying a 2012 Hyundai Accent. I am making $ 300 monthly payments on the car, not to mention a cell phone, insurance payments also. My parents are helping me as much as they can but they too are doing poorly financially. I took out a student loan I didn’t need because scholarships had paid for college, in hopes I can hold down the financial swelling. I have about $ 1000 left of it and the other night I hit a dog (which killing it made me feel even worse) that tore up the underneath of my car. Now my insurance won’t cover me and I need at least $ 1800 to get my car running and $ 2400 to completely repair it. No bank will give me a consumer loan without a job or collateral and I am too frightened to tell my parents about what happened. My girlfriend (the only stable part of my life) and her family have been housing me because my parents and I aren’t on the best of terms a lot of the time. She has been praying with me about it, and I reckon she thinks I am starting to fall in belief that God will help me, which is not right, I really believe it now more than ever. I know God has something plotted, but I also feel like I am supposed to find what he has plotted out for me. My girlfriend wants me to go to our Church and question our pastor for a solution, but there is no way I could ever except taking money from the Church, or anyone really… I need a job terribly, I just wish people would hire me. I am strong, honorable, and loyal even though I don’t have a degree to prove it – I am smart. I know people can’t just trust my word but I wish I could just get someone to pay for my car repair, give me a job, and just let me get back on track… I want to provide a future for my girlfriend who I am plotting to propose to soonish. I can’t believe I am so close to becoming some deadbeat religious lunatic character. I am willing to do anything (that doesn’t dishonor God) I just need the chance… I guess I am just venting on here… but I give thanks to anyone’s comments… and I know I could have it a lot worse. I thank God for everything I have. I just need some help.

student loans for graduate school

well if you bought a 2012 you should have some sort of warranty on it. Check on what your warranty will cover. New cars nearly always have them. Also there is nothing incorrect wtih taking out a student loan to pay for your financial means while you are in school, Thats what it is there for. You need to go apply at mcdonalds or walmart or someplace like that to get excellent experience and a reference. Small money is better then no money. Excellent luck!

There is no excellent bank, excellent credit union, or excellent bank account, Victor. You need to look at the totality of the each bank’s or credit union’s services, accounts, and fees. Every bank and credit union offers several accounts with different features and different fees. Some banks and credit unions may have low overdraft fees, but high fees in other areas. Some accounts waive all fees if you maintain a minimum balance. The minimum balance varies from society to society. Other accounts have a monthly fee, but no fee on each transaction. Other accounts have no monthly fee, but a fee for each transaction.

Some banks have a large number of ATMs which you can use without a charge. Other banks have a charge for ATMs.

I suggest that you visit several banks and credit unions and speak to the customer service expressive Tell the rep how much you anticipate having in your account on average. They will provide you with a schedule of fees. Read it ESPECIALLY THE SMALL PRINT. Bring a written list of questions which are vital to YOU. Find out the features and charges of each of their accounts. Find out how many ATMs are available, and whether there is a service charge for using the ATM.

Make sure you get everything in writing. Do not accept anything the customer service person tells you verbally.
