Will Obama lock up the college student vote…?

Will Obama lock up the college student vote…?

The question

Wednesday President Obama is launching a new plot to lower the cost of paying back student loans for millions of borrowers.

“The plot, to be implemented by executive authority alone, allows some 1.6 million students to cap their loan payments at 10 percent of their discretionary income starting in 2012. It also forgives the balance of student loans after 20 years of payments. Current law allows students to limit loan payments to 15 percent of income, forgiving debt after 25 years of payments, though few students are aware of this option.”

Isn’t this excellent news for all college students and their parents, whether Liberal or Conservative?

current federal student loan interest rate

College students are unreliable as a voting bloc. I knew students who really ran booths and rallies in 2004 and forgot to show up to vote.
Obama is a low life, bottom feeder
THIS college student sees right through this man’s “promises”. He says one thing and then get averted. I will not be voting for Obama.
Yes it is, but conservative college students still won’t vote for him. Most people don’t vote on one issue. Hell, many people don’t even automatically vote for the candidate that’s best for them.

how much should i pay for rent if i am on an student budget?

The question

Hi there, i got my B.A in Political Science, and i am gonna start my M.A in Public Handing out at csulb. I have to go out of my parents house, i dont have a job anymore, but was able to get student loans that cover my tuition and give me 8 grants extra for expensives and i have a grants on savings, thats for spring semester, plus for 2011 2012 school year i can get 20,000 in loans if i need to. So i have to go out , my parents one me to be self-determining, so i will use my savins and loan money for rent, idk how long will it take me to get a job, my past job position finished so i got laid off, not fire, rent sharing a room with students is 400, thats the cheap option, my best friend family is renting a room, she is fantastic and her parents like me, they offer it to me for 600 a month, its 21 miles away from csulb but i know the family, but i will have to spend more in gas, so if you were me would you go out with strangers sharing a room and saving money on gas near csulb, or would you go out with people you know and trust having your own room, but paying 600 plus more gas since i have to commute more to csulb, taking into account the money i have, what would be the smartest choice to make?

college school loans

go for the cheapest you can get till you get a job. 20k will go real quick.
The difference is $ 200. What’s it worth to you to live with someone familiar?
Ok… I work in financial aid at a college in the IE… I do HIGHLY suggest to take out as small loans as possible… only so you do not end up knee deep in student loans… you can stay with your friend… but once you start school and get to know some people.. you may find a roommate who goes to school with you and have a room for rent for cheap…

Can loan be place towards school expenses if it is in deferrment?

The question

I have a student loan that is in deferrment from 2007 and I have applied for financial aid, but because I have to use both my parents’ and my in rank, I can’t get financial aid. So I was wanting to know if I can call my loan company and see if there is any way I can use that deffered loan for my expenses in the fall of 2011, when my deferrment isn’t over until January 1, 2012?

Best answers:

college loan student

I reckon you are confused on how student loans work. A studen t loan is given to you to cover CURRENT expenses. So now that you have the loan, the money is gone.

Deferrment is just when you don’t have to pay on the loan. So unless you saved the money, you can’t question the lender to give you the same loan twice to pay something. HOWEVER, you can question for a NEW loan to pay that balance.

BRAVO OBAMA!!! Thank you. Obama/Biden 2012.

I reckon so. Especially when Republican candidates for their presidential nomination are offering plans to completely eliminate federal student loan programs altogether.

Spoke to a few recent collage graduates this morning about that, and they say they need all the help they can get right NOW. They are supporting the President on this one.

SoB!!!! I paid back my full loans every dime ahead of schedule, I paid for my house, I pay taxes and above all I am no way even close to upper middle class as a result and I have a looooong way to go and d@mn it all, they get to skate AGAIN?!!!!

  5. TicToc.... says:

It would be stupid for Democrats to reckon the students will vote for Obama even if he gives them a free ride. There are many students who are smart enough to see through Obama’s pathetic ploy of trying to make political lemmings out of them.

  6. Fu¢k Retardlicans says:

It needs to happen, our college grads are drowning in debt an the job market is bleak. But you shouldn’t be surprised you can’t get a job when you graduate with a degree in philosophy. So I’d favor this program if they only did it to loans with valuable degrees like medicine/commerce/business.

  7. GARF says:

No need, he had it anyway no matter he is promoting taxpayer payment of student loans. Those who will not vote for him were not eligible for student loans or grants in the first place. Another stupid go on his part because he had the vote anyway. He could have used the taxpayer money to buy votes from another group.
