The question
I’m twelve, I have a small less than average fexibilty and i’m 5’6.Am I to ancient to start and then maybe go onto pointe. I did Ballet for about a month or two but now i’m moving any tips to get a head start so i can work on it untill i can find another studio? Books, websites, just regular tips.
ok i meant to say i want to eventually go onto pointe
Best answers:
You will need to have strong ankles and excellent feet for pointe so start practising your relevés. Once again the Dvd would be a lot of help to you.
Hope this helps:)
you should STRETCH, strengthen your ankles, etc.
when you do combinations in class, pay close attention to all the small details, like turn out in tondus, bend ankles in plies, use inner thigh muscles in developes..
for pointe, you have to really prove that you are ready.. i mean its simpler to right a “deadly habit” (we all have them, such as not plie-ing or sitting in the heals) before going on pointe.. so just work, work, work

I’m pregnant and need cheap & healthy recipes or meal thoughts for myself and fiancee. We have 0 for groceries?
The question
I’m nearly 2 months pregnant and my fiancee and I are on a really tight budget with plotting a wedding and getting ready for a baby. I’m latin so I cook with lots of rice and chicken, but wanted some more thoughts on cheap foods since my soon to be hubby is caucasian and wanted to cook habitual american meals for him too. I’m trying to include more fruit and vegetables in our diets too. Any recipes to share? Thanks

Avoid processed foods: flour, sugar, salt, & lard, (aka white death).
Avoid red meat, get ground turkey instead of hamburger.
Get fish 2 or 3 days a week, even if only canned tuna or sardines.
Buy seasonal vegetables in quantity, go for variety of colour.
Get whole grain pasta, brown rice, instead of white processed kinds.
Casserole
To make a casserole; use a base of cooked rice, pasta, or potato.
Pre-cook your chicken, or use tuna; then slice, chop, or tear it up.
Add diced celery, onions, or peppers, for extra flavour & some crunch.
Throw in any seasonal vegetables like: peas, corn, carrots, or green beans.
Make a cream sauce of flour & oil heated with milk or bouillon, & pour it over.
You can top with bread-crumbs, grated cheese, or sprinkle with spices.
Bake the whole thing at 400F until bubbly & browned.

I’m taking a meal to a neighbor who just had twins. Any thoughts on somethine simple I could make?
The question
They have three other children at home, and since I don’t have kids, I’m not sure what to make. I’m not used to cooking for more than 2 people. I’m looking for something simple but yummy that kids will delight in, too. Any thoughts would really help!
I like the thought of a spaghetti and meatballs type dish- have a really excellent recipe, but wouldn’t that be too spicy if she’s breastfeeding?
Best answers:
edit: no it’s not too spicy..i ate that while breastfeeding…you want to stay away from like, really hot spicy food i reckon like chili’s and spicy salsa..you can make sauce and it not be spicy….
Brown 1lb ground beef
Combine with 12 oz cooked elbow macaroni
Mix in one can each Tomato soup and Vegetable soup (concentrated cans, undiluted)
Mix together and place in a casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for about 20 min or until slightly bubbly. Remove foil and top with American cheese slices, return to oven to melt cheese.
My mom used to make this when I was a kid, and it was and still is one of my favorite casseroles. Simple, cheap, and excellent.

you are not to ancient to start!
just start slow.
work on your technique and your strength.
don’t go en pointe too quicky, otherwise you will hurt yourself.
be sure to stretch at home.
(splits, back bends, tendus, plies, etc.)
OK, listen ….small advice dont use dvd stuff to help u because they dont work. For example: nobody can tell u if ur doing it right or incorrect like doing a plie. what if u get used to it but ur doing it incorrect so dont use any other except to take a lesson. I reckon u r not Too ancient to do ballet. because i’m 12 too and i just started last year. to help u practice look in youtube, or go to the library, read books, watch the nutcracker or any ballet movie. U also have to practice stretching before ur lesson because ballet is about flexibility to. Watch youtube for ballet exercises or anything. Hope this helps.
Your not too young. But most girls your age who do ballet have been doing it for many years, so you will be behind most girls your age. For pointe, you may not get on for about 3-4 years because building up strength for pointe is something you do your whole life. work work work

Small Chicken Burgers
These simple appetizers are small patties made with ground chicken, get it? And apparently mini burgers are a huge thing at the coolest parties these days, so serve these and be cool.
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 lb ground chicken
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup minced Italian parsley
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
2 Tbsp lemon juice
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
1 to 2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
Place the bread crumbs in a small shallow dish. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the chicken, garlic, parsley, oregano, basil and lemon juice. Add salt and pepper to taste. Form the mixture into 16 patties, each flattened and about 2 inches in diameter.
Press the patties into the bread crumbs to coat each side. In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium heat and cook, turning once, until each side is browned and the patties have firmed up, about 10 minutes total. Serve hot.

You should make a casserole… at this point in time she will be to consumed with the new babies to cook, and with a casserole, there’ll be plenty for everyone and possibly some re-heatable leftovers.
Stuffing Chicken Casserole
In a huge bowl, mix together:
1 cup cooked chicken, chopped
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 cup herb seasoned stuffing mix
1/2 cup chopped onion
1-1/2 t. dried parsley flakes.
In a separate small bowl, mix until smooth:
1 cup milk
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup mayonnaise (light)
Now pour the small bowl contents into the large bowl which has the
stuffing in it.
When combined, pour into the 9×9 pan. Bake for about 30 minutes in the
350 degree preheated oven.
A homemade macaroni and cheese and a side of nice beefy hot dogs she can just boil to go along with it. Just something I had as a kid years ago. or maybe a huge pot of chili.
One of my favorite things to make to bring to someone is a simple:
Shepherd’s Pie
1 lb burger, browned with onions season lightly with salt, pepper and a dash garlic powder
a small can of tomato sauce, mixed into browned beef
a can of drained green beans
shredded cheddar cheese
mashed potatoes
layer this in a clear 8×8 casserole dish.
Beef, beans, cheese, mashed potatoes and top with a sprinkling of cheese again. Bake at 350 for 30 mins or so, or bring it to them and have them bake at their best time.
Bring brownies, applesauce and you are set.
I receive more greetings on this than anything.
The second best choice is meatloaf with baked or mashed potatoes. Leftover meatloaf is fantastic for sandwiches etc.
You are a excellent friend!
spagetti bolonagise to make the sauce just get minced meat pasta sauce onions garlic and any herbs you like like bay leaves etc.
or pizza
or make some healthy hamburgers just get some buns meat, onion, tomato, lettuce, egg and tomato sauce and any other things you like.but maybe things that are spicey you shouldn’t place on it because the kids may not like it.
fish and chips buy some fish and potatos cut the pototatos into cubes and bake them in the oven and some greek salad (without the olives because kids usually don’t like them)
thats all i can reckon of
I made pizza spaghetti for my 1 yr olds birthday. I was sure the kids would like it but I was so surprised to see the adults going fpr 2nd and 3rd servings. It was just regular spaghetti but layered with lots of cheese and lots of pepperoni, I made garlic breadsticks too (freezer section) I made a really huge pot of spaghetti with meat sauce and lots of finely diced bellpepper ( i like pepperoni and bellpepper pizza). Then I layered it in a really huge pan and place it in the oven til the cheese on the top browned
