Should I go back to school to get another Associates degree, physical therapist assistant?

The question

Im 21 years ancient with an associates degree in graphic design, which I do not use, I took a year break off school to save money I want to go back to school for something where I can help people. I was thinking high school teaching ( I would be done in 2012 with 53,000 in student loans), job-related therapy (I would be done in 2013 with 83,000 in student loans), or I was recently thinking to go back for a physical therapy assistant ( if i start in fall I would be done in 2013 with 53,000 in student loans)

My goal is to find a job I like
not have that many loans out
make excellent money when I graduate where I can support myself

I just wasnt sure about going back to school to get another associates degree, I thought that was kind of weird, instead of getting a bachelors.

Best answers:

lower my student loan interest rate

yes to get a excellent job
Job-related therapy looks better since it will incur more loans to you but it will pays you off by itself after you have earned your way.

Have you ever reckon of RN? It pays even better and most of the State University have the programs and offer loans and grants (financial aids)

Try to apply the same programs from States University instead of going to private colleges. Even try to see if a local community college offer programs like these. It will save you tons of money but still get you to your destination.

Excellent luck!

If you get a Bachelors in OT, I would go that route. If it’s an associates (in OT) I would pick physical therapy instead. In either case you need to choose soon because a lot of programs only accept once a year and you need to shadow an OT or PT before even applying. If you are able to go I would check out community colleges in other areas because your loan rates seem way too high. If military is an option you can get training in the last two for free.
To become an Job-related Therapist it is a Master’s degree and your loan price is probably pretty accurate for that school. Look into Job-related Therapy Assistant… same pay (or in my state higher) than what PTA’s make. Also, double-check the price for that loan amount… my total school for OTA was under $ 25,000. Excellent luck!
