My Girlfriend and her Student Loan Situation?

My girlfriend graduated from massage therapy school about four years ago. It was a nine month program and it has been the only education that she has gotten since high school. The tuition for the entire nine months was about $ 15,000 and she deferred the payment. She has not made any payments to the school during these past four years. For the past couple of months now, she has been wanting to go back to school for a nursing degree and wants to start at a community college. She wants to get a student loan but knows that she cannot get one at the moment since she deferred the tuition payment from her previous college. Now if she were to pay the entire $ 15,000 right now to her previous school, would she then be eligible for a student loan for the 2012-2013 school year?
