Filling student loans?

The question

I was told i can file my student loan on my taxes this year. I just Got my loan in october of 07 and dont have to repay it until 2012. Will I be able to file this, if so, how do I go about doing that. Also I had two part time jobs i worked in 07. One I worked there for maybe two months, The other maybe three months . Are they worth filing?

You can file what you have paid on it so far

it depends on the type of loan.
if it private then disregard everything i say coz i dont know how those one work.

if it is federal then you might have a subsidize loan, and then the gov would be paying for you interest, so you wouldnt add that to your taxes.

if it unsubsadized you might be able to file it if you´ve been making payments (i know, you are not required to, but you can still make payments) or if there is intereset capitalized (added to your principal balance)

But you should always question a tax consultant and not just your friendly neightbors @Yahoo Answers.

how does the army SLRP work?

The question

Well, I already enlisted in the Army reserve and I Have a SLRP of: 20,000. My recruiter just told me that I can use it to repay my student loans for college. But I have heard that this repayment only works if you already had loans prior enlisted. I’ll be attending college during the spring of 2012, so obviously I haven’t taken any loans yet. So who is right? Does the SLRP work during I’m attending college, or how. Please help.

it only pays off loans you had in hand PRIOR to enlisting.

the SLRP is useless to you if you po not have any current loans.

CALL your RECRUITER and find out what happened..are you sure your contract says SLRP??
